Fond Affections

Premièred at Bühnen Bern as part of the Next Generation program (Tanzplatform 2025)

Fond Affections is a piece about the awareness of existing within a mortal body, an ephemeral vessel that can never truly be owned. The body as a living witness to its own decay, conscious that no matter how much you try to preserve or control it, it is always slipping beyond your grasp. The work follows two individuals on stage as they gradually unravel from their human selves, intertwined at times, or abandoned by one another. Highlighting the fragility and transience of our physical form. An ethereal decent, with a sense of beauty that feels almost unattainable or fleeting. The piece draws inspiration from the shoegaze and dreampop music movement, where the voice of the singer is often treated as another instrument in a wash of sonic texture.

Beauty in an end, carrying the fullness of life.
